Second-generation antihistamine (H1 receptor antagonist)
Mechanism of Action
Selective H1 receptor antagonist that blocks histamine-mediated allergic responses with minimal central nervous system penetration, reducing sedation.
Indications
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis
- Perennial allergic rhinitis
- Chronic urticaria (hives)
Dose
- Adults and children ≥12 years: 10 mg orally once daily.
- Children 6–11 years: 5 mg orally once daily.
Major Side Effects
- Headache
- Mild drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort
- Rare: palpitations, dizziness
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to mizolastine
- Severe hepatic impairment
Compatible Fluid
Oral tablets – swallow with water; no IV formulation.

Once-daily oral therapy for allergic rhinitis and urticaria.
